CHAMPLAIN AREA TRAILS HAS A WORKING HIKE ON THE CHENEY MOUNTAIN TRAIL ON FRIDAY, JULY 26TH AT 9 AM
Join Champlain Area Trails in working on this 1.8-mile trail in Moriah, New York. It crosses a field before entering the woods for a steady climb to the summit. Follow this road as it moderately but steadily climbs to higher ground; after the short uphill that is a spur trail to an excellent view that's worth checking out. The summit is not much farther, and it's wooded, but if you follow the trail just beyond the summit, you have two great views — one of the High Peaks with the tailings piles of the old mine in the foreground, and the other of the Champlain Bridge and Vermont. This is a moderately easy hike.
WHAT TO BRING: We will work with loppers, hand saws, and string trimmers, which Champlain Area Trails can provide. Feel free to bring your tools as well. Make sure to bring gloves, protective eye gear (if using a string trimmer), water, and some snacks!
DIRECTIONS: The trailhead is on Pelfershire Road, about 1.6 mi west of Rt. 22/9N in Moriah.
REGISTRATION: Please register by 6:00 p.m. the day before the event by emailing tony@champlainareatrails.com, but it's also okay to meet us there Friday at 9:00 a.m.
