The Annual Town of Hague Polar Bear Plunge also known as “Freezin
For A Reason” will be held on Sunday, February 14 th , 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Trout House Village Resort in Hague, NY. The 2021 event will be held in honor of Katy Laundree Wells who unexpectedly passed away recently. Katy was a long-time community supporter, volunteer, and overall wonderful person who dedicated much of her life to the betterment of Hague and the area. All money raised will benefit the Vermont Children’s Hospital.
“As 2020 has ended and we start 2021, we looked back 15 years ago at the polar plunge. We see who was standing at the dock of the Trout House. Katy Laundree Wells was standing there for sure, and so many more. Over the years the Hague Winter Weekend has changed as we actually use to jump into Lake George just for fun. As the year’s passed we found a mission for the jump and that was area youth in need. Katy shared this passion and as a community we have and will continue to support children in need” shared Bobbie Jean Fish – Hague Events Committee Member.
The Hague Polar Bear Plunge or “Freezin For A Reason” was created. Meg and Tom Haskell of Hague, NY partnered with WOKO to be able to support the Vermont Children’s Hospital. The committee has raised thousands of dollars from the support of change bandits and community members who fundraise for this event.
“This year’s polar plunge will be in honor of our friend Katy. She will be greatly missed in her larger- than-life white fluffy robe she sported at the event. Katy met her goal last year. In 5 short years she personally raised $10,000. We hope you will join us in working towards a similar goal to support the Vermont Children’s hospital and honor the good work of Katy. Join us to carry on her dedication and commitment to Hague, our youth, and our surrounding communities,” continued Bobbie Jean Fish.
In addition, a Grab n ’Go Spaghetti Dinner (take out only) will be held on Saturday, February 13 th , 2021 from 5:00 – 6:30 PM at the Hague Volunteer Fire Department. There is a $10 suggested donation in loving memory of Katy Laundree Wells. All proceeds are also to benefit the Hague Polar Bear Plunge and the Vermont Children’s Hospital.
