The University of Vermont Health Network - Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ECH) will host health screenings next month for local hunters. The screening events, which are free and open to the public, are scheduled at the hospital from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13 in Elizabethtown and Thursday, September 14 in Ticonderoga.
While the events are geared toward hunters, all are welcome. Julie Tromblee, MSN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Elizabethtown Community Hospital, said “While hunters don’t need to be at their peak in terms of fitness level, they do need to be sure their bodies can handle the strenuous activity required before heading into the woods this season.”
Hospital staff will check blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and oxygen levels as well as vision, height and weight. EKG readings are also available to assess heart health, and results will be mailed to participants within two weeks. Information about local health care services and hunter safety will also be available.
