Beginning in 1917, groups of women surrounded the White House, exercising their right to peaceful assembly. Standing as "Silent Sentinels" they asked that women be given the right to vote....
As a consequence, they were arrested, imprisoned an tortured by the United States' government.
Join us for the opening of our newest Women's Suffrage exhibit and learn more about the courageous women in both United States and abroad who endured beatings, torture and forced feedings in the fight for women's rights.
