Acclaimed trumpet player, Chris Coletti, who last appeared in Lake George in 2018 with the Canadian Brass, returns to The Sembrich to close our Promenade Series in a program as wide and diverse as Coletti’s own path on the international music scene.
Comfortable in many styles, Coletti’s program includes a Baroque concerto to showcase his skill on piccolo trumpet, classical works by Clara Schumann and Lili Boulanger, an arrangement of Gershwin’s Three Preludes for trumpet and piano, and The Ray’s End, a challenging recent work for violin, trumpet, and percussion by Andy Akiho. Rounding out the program, to highlight Coletti’s “jazzy” side, the Harry James “concerto,” a four-minute joyride through some of the famous band leader’s most virtuosic trumpet solos --- and Coletti’s own musical arrangement of Astor Piazzolla’s ever-popular Libertango.
Joining Chris Coletti for this outdoor music event are percussionist Sean Ritenauer, violinist Amanda Brin, cellist Jonathan Brin, and pianist Michael Clement.
Chris Coletti has collaborated with a broad spectrum of musicians ranging from the Metropolitan Opera Brass, New York Philharmonic Principal Brass, Pierre Boulez, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Riccardo Muti--- to Quincy Jones, Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, and Miami Sound Machine.
The Sembrich is particularly proud of Coletti’s collaboration with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra and his performance of Copland’s “Quiet City” as a part of our 20/20: Virtual Visionaries series.
