SUMMARY:Ticonderoga Heritage Museum Series of Children's Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, July 12th - PUZZLEMANIA: Participants create a design on a puzzle piece\, then work together to join the pieces to make a picture and then recreate their puzzle on paper.\n\nFriday\, July 14th - PAINTING WITH MAGNENTS AND VINEGAR: This 2-part program explores the attraction of magnets and how this attraction can create art. The second part watches the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar to create a painting.\n\nWednesday\, July 19th - TEAM-SHIRTS: All participants will create a tree shape on a t-shirt or piece of fabric. Students will add their thumb prints as leaves on each other's trees. Participants are asked to bring their own t-shirts or fabric for this project.\n\nFriday\, July 21st - AEROART: Another 2-part program that creates an optical illusion toy and a spinning toy while exploring aerodynamics. \n\nWednesday\, July 26th - FLOWER POWER: Children will decorate their own flowerpots and then plant a flower. \n\nFriday\, July 28th - ARTMOBILES: Each group member will design 6 circles. Children will exchange circles with the members of their group\, add a hole in the top of each circle and\, using different lengths or string\, attach circles to twig or dowel to create a mobile. \n\nWednesday\, August 2nd - INSTRUMENTAL ART: Students will make 3 different musical instruments\; a pan flute\, pipe cleaner bells\, and TP rolls filled with beads which they will then use in a marching band. \n\nFriday\, August 4th - S.T.E.A.M. BINGO: Cover your bingo card with stamps that feature Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts and Mathematics and yell STEAM! (In collaboration with the Ticonderoga Stamp Club).\n\nWednesday\, August 9th - TRYSYMMETRY: A 2-part workshop where participants draw part of a shape and pass to another student to complete and decorate. Then\, each child draws a doodle and passes it to the other members at the table to add to their doodle. When the paper returns to its original location\, students create a person\, a monster or other object from all the different doodles. \n\nFriday\, August 11th - ROBOTIC ART: Using a die with 6 different shapes\, roll and draw a body part using that shape. Continue until robot is complete. Then\, construct a cardstock robot to mimic the one drawn on paper and embellish.\n\nWednesday\, August 16th - SLIMY RAINBOWS: Watch the reaction as you mix different ingredients and colors to create rainbow slime. \n\nFriday\, August 18th - KALEIDOSCOPE: Create a kaleidoscope and watch the changes.
