Join the Scrag Mountain Duo, soprano Mary Bonhag and double bassist Evan Premo, in The Living Earth, a program prepared especially for our outdoor 2021 NATURE & MUSIC series. This innovative duo reimagines the classical concert experience for the 21st century, bringing vitality and passion to its performances of new music.
The program is comprised of music inspired by nature, including several original works by Premo, that evoke the beauty and grandeur of Earth. Audience members will experience a "Duet with Lake George" come to life in real time as the composer, using a loop pedal on his string bass, will improvise on and transform the natural sounds of the lake environment into a new composition.
The Scrag Mountain Duo hails from Marshfield, VT among woods, mountains, streams, and lakes. Their natural environment inspires the music they perform and compose. Together Bonhag and Premo also founded Scrag Mountain Music, a festival designed to create a space where artists and community interact and enrich one another, where the locale is equally as important as the music making, and where the music is community supported and accessible to all.
Event will be held under a performance tent on The Sembrich’s beautiful lakeside property. Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own portable folding chairs or use those provided by The Sembrich. Ushers will ensure appropriate social distancing when seating attendees. Masks are required at all times while on The Sembrich property. Health and safety guidelines prescribed by the CDC and the State of New York will be enforced. Failure to comply will result in ejection from the property and forfeiture of admission.
Event will be held rain or shine.
