Slaves and abolitionists used designs on quilts to help runaway slaves make their way to Canada. Jackie Viestenz will illustrate her talk with a sampler quilt of the patterns that were used to guide the slaves. Most of the information is taken from Hidden in Plain View, a Secret Story of Quilts and the Underground Railroad by Jacqueline L. Tobin. This dinner meeting talk is open to the public.
