Are owls really that wise? How do owls see in the dark? How can owls fly so quietly in the night? How do we, as humans, see at night? You can learn the answers to these and many other "owl-y" questions on the Owl Prowl, Friday, December 15, 5:30 on the Black Kettle Trail in Essex. Naturalist and teacher, Gregg VanDeusen, will lead this popular early-evening hike while talking to children and families about the various species of owls in the area and making owl calls to elicit their responses. Gregg also discusses other types of wildlife in the area and explains how our eyes work in the dark. Because of the need for quiet, this class is limited to 15 people. Registration is required, $10 per person, under 21 free. Register at www.champlainareatrails.com/events&hikes
