North Country Community College is offering a full slate of community workshops this spring and early summer. These workshops will be held on the NCCC Ticonderoga campus located at 11 Hawkeye Trail, across from the Bicentennial Park. There are four workshops planned for the month of February. On Friday, February 26th from 10-11:30, O’Connor will present “How Women Won the War”. Diane O’Connor holds a Bachelors Degree in History and has recently served as the Essex County Historian and the Director of the Essex County Historical Society. Though American History is frequently defined by the major conflicts and often through a masculine point of view, this series of four sessions gets “out of the box” to look at contributions by women during wartime. Specific sessions will look at women’s roles during The American Revolution, The Civil War, World War I, and World War II. Discussion will include how women used traditional roles to influence military decisions, propaganda and the home front; and how they overcame perceptions to embrace other methods for assisting in war efforts. . The remaining sessions will be held on Fridays from 10:00-11:30, on March 4th, 11th, and 19th. The total cost of all four workshops is $30.
