Essex County has been awarded a Microenterprise Program to assist existing and encourage the new start up microenterprise businesses in the southern Lake Champlain Region. The businesses located or to be located in the following communities may be eligible to apply: Moriah, Crown Point and Ticonderoga. A Microenterprise Grant Program (MGP) is available to qualified businesses that are identified through an application process.
The Program purpose is to provide training and financial assistance to entrepreneurs, existing businesses & startups that create jobs for persons who are low-to-moderate income. The program is specifically targeting assistance for entrepreneurs who are businesses (existing or start up) owned by low-to-moderate income persons and / or an business that will create new jobs that will be taken by or made available to low-to-moderate income persons.
The Microenterprise Program, through an application process will identify qualified businesses to provide resolution to small businesses lack of access to capital, access to microenterprise technical training and assist businesses to offer a more relevant mix of wares and services to help improve the viability of the business. This will help create a more attractive business environment create new jobs. Program was funded through: The NYS Community Development Block Grant Program from the Community Renewal Fund

Also note that All Applicants must complete the Essex County’s Southern Lake Champlain Microenterprise Training Program,. There is a $100 fee for participation in the training program. Eligible grant recipients, may request reimbursement for the training fee. Date of class: Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Ticonderoga Community Building in the upstairs auditorium from 9:00-4:00. Registration from 8:30-9:00 . This is the only time the class will be offered. Pre-registration is recommended. See the attached brochure and contact the Essex County IDA for more information.
