The Ticonderoga Historical Society invites the public to the final offering in its series of free discussion and movie nights on Friday July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hancock House. The 1994 John Sayles’ film “The Secret of Roan Inish” will be featured.
The story unfolds through the eyes of a young girl who is sent to live with her grandparents in an Irish fishing village on Ireland’s rugged western coast. As she meets other villagers, she hears the personal stories of the local inhabitants’ dealings with the selkies, figures from Irish folklore. Selkies are seals who may shed their skin to become human.
“This movie is such a delight for everyone who watches,” noted Bill Dolback, President of the Historical Society. “It’s a magical, mystical family film with an interesting story and beautiful scenery. We look forward to welcoming everyone into the Hancock House for this excellent film.”
The movie night is free to all, along with popcorn. Other refreshments will also be available.
