The perfect film for a casual family night out! Geoff Dunbar’s delightfully animated version of Janácek’s 1924 opera tells the tale Sharp-Ears, a young fox who is captured and raised by a hunter. A story for both young and old, the opera follows the cunning fox and her animal friends in their adventures throughout the different stages of life.
Composed near the end of his life, The Cunning Little Vixen is based on an illustrated serial column titled Liška Bystrouška by Rudolph Tesnohlídek. Janácek worked closely with the author and undertook a careful study of wildlife included in the opera. A riveting adventure for any audience, the film is also a refection on the passing of time and the precious things that matter most.
