Carillon Garden Club meeting
The featured speaker will be Jeff Young, the UVM Horticulture Farm “Lilac Man.” All are welcome to attend.
Mr. Young will be sharing his extensive 20 years of experience and knowledge in his talk, “All About Lilacs” starting about 11:15. He will share information on the 2000 kinds of lilacs, how to care for them, when and how to prune, sun and soil needs, diseases and maintenance. Jeff currently teaches workshops at the Hort Farm in the Art of Hedges, Pruning and of course Lilacs. He was Master Gardener of the year in 2007, has served on many boards in the US and Canada and writes for many journals and publications on pruning, lilacs, hedges, and other horticultural endeavors.
Prior to the program, members will gather starting about 9:30 for coffee and conversation. The business meeting will start at 10 AM led by President, Jackie Viestenz. Following the program, members and guests will enjoy their bring-your-own lunches. Beverages and desserts will be supplied.
The Carillon Garden Club meets regularly on the third Thursday each month, March through November. In May club members will enjoy a talk on “Pollinators” by Jane Sorenson. New members are always welcome.
Members of the Carillon Garden Club will be seen soon cleaning up some of the gardens around Hague and Ticonderoga. Many annuals will be added later for summer enjoyment.. A Plant Sale is scheduled for May 30th at the First United Methodist Church in Ti. The club is also preparing for a flower show to be held in September.
