North Country Community College
After almost 240 years the British Monarchy will once again be occupying a part of Ticonderoga. North Country Community College will be hosting the art exhibition “64 Years, 75 Days a Queen” from April 19 – 26, 2016 in the upstairs hallway of the college. The show will feature portraits of Queen Elizabeth II done in sequins as a celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday (April 21) created by Artist and NCCC Adjunct Instructor, Cyndy Barbone. The Exhibition also includes replicas of 12 of the Queen’s crowns and tiaras.
“I have been interested in Queen Elizabeth since 1973 when her motorcade passed within feet of me in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. I wanted to commemorate her long reign and celebrate her Birthday, so I had some fun creating these pieces” said Ms. Barbone. The portraits are based on the Queen’s first official coronation portrait, as well as a recent portrait. The exhibition also includes sequin portraits of the artist’s Mother who graduated from Syracuse University the year that Elizabeth became Queen and celebrated her 85th Birthday in December.
The exhibition will be open to the public during school hours, 8:30 AM – 4:30PM Monday through Friday. Please contact the President’s Office at 518-354-5282 for additional information.
