It was formerly known as Academy Park for the Ticonderoga Academy\, Ticonderoga's first High School\, which once stood at the present location of the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad. This park is rich with historic monuments and information. The park features Heroes Rock\, the Soldiers Monument (tribute to those who fought in America's Civil War)\, Lord Howe's grave marker\, a historic sign\, many beautiful trees\, and park benches. Artillery Park commemorates the location where\, in July\, 1759\, British forces under General Amherst erected an artillery battery to attack the French Fort at Carillon\, which they seized and named Fort Ticonderoga.
